H1N1 Flu Information
The Logan Elm Schools has a Pandemic Response Plan in place. We are working in conjunction with the school nurse, the Pickaway County Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education and the Centers for Disease Control. The school nurse, administration and staff are on high alert and are taking precautions. The custodial staff is cleaning desks, telephones, computer keyboards and mice and doorknobs.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to update this page and send home information if necessary.
At this time, these measures are precautionary as there has not been a confirmed case in our community/school/area.
Key Facts about H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu)
1. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
2. Cough or sneeze into your elbow or upper sleeve if you don't have a tissue.
3. Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs often spread this way.
4. Do not share food or utensils.
5. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze or use the restroom and before eating. If you are not near soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
6. Stay away as much as you can from people who are sick.
7. If you get sick, stay home from work or school.
8. Consider the need for extra supplies such as alcohol-based hand sanitizers, hand-washing soap, paper towels and tissues during the peak of flu season and during a pandemic.
Prevention:
1. Eat a balanced diet that includes plenty of vegetables, fruits and whole grain products.
2. Drink plenty of water and go easy on salt, sugar, alcohol and saturated fat.
3. Exercise on a regular basis. Thirty minutes or more of physical activity most days of the week can help boost your immunity.
4. Get plenty of rest. Sleep is shown to help your body's ability to fight off illness.
